Johnson Classroom Crests

CREATING CLASSROOM IDENTITIES

Classroom crests are now on display throughout W.A. Johnson School. Take a look, spot your students' class crest, and ask them to explain the meaning and symbolize within their collaborative artistic creations. Teachers and their students created these crests to showcase what's special about their little communities and to foster a feeling of family and belonging within their classrooms. The project grew out of the Johnson staff's book study of Jonathan Alsheimer's "Next Level Teaching: Empowering Students and Transforming School Culture." Everyone from the front office staff to interventionists and lunch and recess supervisors created crests to represent their different identities.
